Love southern food then make Big Daddy’s a must for an East Coast Pit stop if you are traveling on I-64 through Virginia or if you are lucky enough to live in the neighboring cities.  As for the meat and seafood, fried and grilled offerings are available.  I opted to try the fried cuisine because it is among the most popular of the offerings.  Smothered turkey wings, grilled shrimp, fried whiting, and fried turkey chops are among the menu items which I sampled.  Each fried food is golden and seasoned well, not too salty.  Everything is delectable but the fried turkey chop is a scene stealer. 

The delicious side dish offerings in include candied yams, cabbage with beef sausage, macaroni and cheese, and collard greens.  The candied yams are sweet but not too sweet.  The side dishes are not cooked with pork.  Big Daddy’s manages to do vegetables with a meat accents which are wonderful.   Big Daddy’s gets the award of Best Soul Food Collard Greens.   The collards are cooked with smoked turkey wings imparting a rich smokey flavor.  I shared the macaroni and cheese with two other people who raved about the macaroni and cheese.   This is must order dish. 

 It is always great when your meal goes out on a happy note with dessert.  Peach Cobbler is the way to go.  I do not normally like peach cobbler but I would buy this cobbler over and over again.   Apple cobbler is available, New York Style cheesecake, and creamy banana pudding are also on the menu.   Big Daddy's also has a carryout section.

Big Daddy’s is representing the culture of southern cooking well.
