This place is a homerun. Perfect for families if not for only two reasons, kids eat free on Sunday and you get free ice cream with the purchase of your meal. Serve yourself vanilla ice cream. It does not matter if you go up more than once. You can grab a cup or a cone. Moreover, the soft serve has a bit of icey texture and is quite good.

The meats from pulled porked to ribs to the brisket to the turkey are flavorful and tender. One person described her ribs as "...falling off the bone tender." The meat is not masked in sauces; however, sauce is a available in the self serve area. Some of the sides include fried okra, waffle cut fries, onion rings, jalepeno bean, and more. I tried the green beans but I found them to be under seasoned. Conversely, my friend gladly finished them off. She agreed it was under seasoned but she still enjoyed them. The seasoned crispy onion rings are amazing. I was stealing from another friend's plate and my waffle cut fries did not dissapoint.
On this day, I was with a group of 14. At the counter, they seemed a bit flustered in handling the order for 14. Nevertheless, the wait was not too long and we were all generally pleased with our selections. Sunday around 2PM there was a constant stream of people coming in to get to go orders. Dickey's BBQ Pit does catering as well. This location is very close to CSUN.
