Although the movie 2001 Tortilla Soup may be more commercially known in the United States as the story of three Latina(Mexican American) daughters and their father, a chef living together; however, Eat, Drink, Man Woman is the critically acclaimed Oscar nominated predecessor about three Chinese sisters living with their, a master chef. Much script of Tortilla Soup is line by line the same as Eat, Drink Woman yet it lacks the depth. Although, there are fun moments in this film it comes across as drama whereas the remake takes more of a comedic direction.
This is a Chinese film so expect subtitles and prepare to feast your eyes of extraordinary cuisine. Try this Winter Melon soup recipe which is just one of the menu items of the film and learn about the bamboo steamer which can see used in the beginning of the film.
